Research & Technology for Humanity in Space

The primary interest of Lucidian is in space related science, research, & technology development with a focus on space resource acquisition and the human colonization & settlement of space. We work under the belief that a significant effort to develop and settle the nearby solar system would benefit Earth considerably. As the human population expands, and increasing numbers of that population occupy more developed societies, our Earthly resources will become too scarce. Additionally, it is clear that we will need to adapt to the reality of climate change. Lucidian is interested in the way in which our expansion into space will transition from one of pure scientific exploration to one of commerce, development, and settlement.

As humanity is increasingly challenged with resource acquisition on Earth due to declining supplies and political complications, space based resources are becoming financially viable options. Further, as the current space industry sees a second boom growing globally, launch & lift technology and related technologies (like robotics) will drastically reduce the cost of accessing space. We believe the time for humanity to look beyond Earth for resources and habitation is now and we seek to accelerate that process.

Lucidian strongly believes that public outreach and inclusion is a critical mechanism for supporting our industry through encouraging young people to pursue science careers and by allowing the public to both understand scientific efforts and share in the excitement of discovery. Doing so also fosters a more positive view of space efforts and encourages funding toward increased development.
